IMPORTANT SAFETY INFORMATION FOR THE USE OF OUR CANDLES AND WAX MELT BURNERS
Never leave a burning candle unattended
Always extinguish candles before leaving the room or going to bed. Also extinguish any candle that is smoking, flickering, or has an uncontrolled flame.
Burn candles out of reach of children and pets
Do not place candles where they may be knocked over by children, pets, or anyone else.
Never light candles near flammable objects
Place your candles on a non-flammable, heat-resistant surface, at least 30 cm away from anything that could catch fire (curtains, decorations, etc.).
Always leave 7 cm between burning candles
Follow the safety distance stated on the packaging. If no distance is shown, do not take risks and allow at least 7 cm between candles. Candles placed too close together may drip, create soot, or overheat. Tealights may ignite.
Avoid placing candles in a draught
Keep candles away from draughts to prevent rapid or uneven burning, soot build-up, and excessive dripping. Warning: a draught may blow a light curtain into the candle flame.
Do not place candles near a heat source
The higher the temperature around the candle, the greater the risk. For example, tealights placed on a television may ignite and melt plastic. Other candles may drip excessively or become unstable and tip over.
Keep candles upright
Always keep candles standing upright to avoid dripping and reduce the risk of unsafe burning. Glass containers may crack or shatter if the flame comes into contact with the sides.
Trim the wick to approximately 1 cm before lighting
Shorten the wick before lighting the candle. If the wick is too long, wax may build up during burning or the flame may become too high and produce soot.
Trim raised edges to a height of 1 cm
If the wax edge becomes higher than the wick, the flame will not receive enough airflow to burn correctly and may produce soot.
Remove debris from melted wax to prevent ignition
Items such as matches, insects, decorations, or pieces of wick may catch fire. This can cause the candle to overheat and ignite suddenly.
Do not move a burning candle
Moving a lit candle can have the same effect as placing it in a draught (soot and dripping). If you move a tealight when all the wax has melted, the wick may shift and ignite the liquid wax.
Always snuff the flame, do not blow it out
For safety, use a candle snuffer. Never blow out a candle, especially when it is in a holder such as a glass votive, as the wax may ignite or splash onto your face.
Never use liquid to extinguish a candle
If the candle cannot be extinguished easily, cover it with a damp cloth. Never attempt to extinguish a candle with water. Water may cause splashing molten wax and may shatter the holder.
Do not allow a candle to burn all the way down
Extinguish candles when around 2 cm of wax remains above the holder. If a candle burns completely down, it may leave burn marks or even start a fire: a glass holder may shatter, and a metal holder may overheat.
